I am captivated by the interplay of bright, bold colors and intricate patterns. My work embodies a vibrant fusion of influences drawn from my Serbian, Canadian, and American heritage, reflecting the diverse tapestry of my identity. Through a variety of subjects—including animals adorned in vivid patterns, houses, and figures ranging from musicians to nudes enveloped in floral motifs—I explore the complexities of existence and emotion

My artistic practice merges a graphic design aesthetic with painterly techniques, creating a unique visual language that invites viewers to engage with each piece on multiple levels. The use of stripes and patterns serves not only as a means of embellishment but also as a way to obscure and reveal the subjects within my compositions. This duality echoes the contrasts of joy and melancholy, as many of my figures, while surrounded by vibrant colors, often convey a sense of solitude and introspection.

In my floral works, I celebrate the beauty of nature, employing lush colors and dynamic forms that evoke a sense of life and movement. Yet, even in these joyful depictions, there is an underlying complexity that invites contemplation.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, where the bold visual elements draw one in, while the nuanced emotions and themes provoke deeper reflection. Through my paintings, I hope to illuminate the beauty and melancholy that coexist within the human experience, encouraging a connection that transcends the surface.

Thank you for engaging with my art.

Now in its 34th year, the Tephra ICA Arts Festival offers one-on-one experiences with artists, vibrant public performances, and engaging activities for art enthusiasts of all ages. Over 200 contemporary artists and artisans will travel from across the country to present original handmade artwork to share with Festival audiences. The Festival is produced by Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art, and serves as the organization’s largest annual fundraiser, allowing year-round exhibitions and programs to be free and open to the public. The word “tephra” – matter from geothermal eruptions that lands upon, nourishes, and changes the surrounding environment – emphasizes the institution’s belief in the combustibility of creativity and the generation of ideas and growth that the arts can provide.

Visit me at both number 804. I look forward to seeing you!
